On Thursday February 27, 2025, Mrs Zineb EL ADAOUI, First President of the Cour des Comptes, received a high-level delegation of the Presidents of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and their respective delegations, from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal and Togo, as part of an exchange of experiences on strengthening Supreme Audit Institutions in Africa.

During the meeting, the First President expressed her deep pride in the fruitful and lasting cooperation with counterpart African SAIs, and underlined the firm commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to strengthen this cooperation, in accordance with the guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and to actively contribute to the establishment of a comprehensive and integrated framework aimed at developing professional capabilities, evolving working methodologies and taking advantage of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, which have proven their effectiveness in enhancing the efficiency of control and risk management. The First President also emphasized the need for African SAIs to be more closely integrated into the dynamic of major projects and initiatives in the field of international supreme auditing, in the interests of African countries and peoples.

For his part, Mr. Sinion Yves Marie Adessin, President of the WAEMU Court of Audit, praised the commitment of the Moroccan Court of Accounts to reinforcing cooperation with its continental counterparts, stressing that the visit by representatives of the WAEMU SAIs was part of the process of modernizing the audit mechanisms of the Union’s member SAIs, which requires openness to best practices, and taking advantage of successful experiences, including those adopted by the Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Morocco.
On this occasion, the Court of Accounts organized a series of meetings to enable the delegation of WAEMU SAIs to become acquainted with the Moroccan auditing model, focusing on the presentation of best practices and innovative tools adopted by the Court in the fields of auditing, digitization and data analysis. These meetings highlighted the central role of these mechanisms in improving the quality of control work and enhancing the impact of its results.

It should be recalled that this meeting is part of a drive to strengthen cooperation with counterpart African institutions, particularly in view of the Court’s role as Secretary General of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI), which helps to broaden the scope of South-South cooperation and deepen its positive impact, with the aim of promoting good governance, transparency and accountability on the African continent.
